August2014 Road Trip: Day 19-Bedford Indiana

The temps are noticeably warmer as we headed toward our next stop, Bedford Indiana.

We try to stay off interstates as much as possible, driving along local roads as much as possible.  There's something relaxing about driving by farmers working in their fields.
Field of Dreams?

Our first stop in Indiana was Troyers, an Amish roadside stand.
We bought a few homemade goods.  I am sad we are too far from home to buy their vegetables which are huge and bargain prices.

I love covered bridges and Hubby has been so sweet & tolerant to drive off course so I can take pictures.  We saw two today.  This first one in Westport, Indiana is still utilized.

We stopped for lunch is this local named Larrison's Diner located in Seymour Indiana.

It was more of greasy spoon, something I don't usually consider but it was quaint.  We shared a burger & soup.

The second was The Medora covered bridge in Medora Indiana we found is the longest covered bridge in the US.
Covers 3 spans
Worlds longest covered bridge in USA

It's three spans long and currently undergoing some restoration work so it wasn't usable.

Our FREE hotel for tonight is at the Holiday Inn Express-Bedford.  Our room is described as a suite with an inside balcony overlooking an atrium with a pool, hot tub & game area. The room was clean but the balcony was useless.  You couldn't sit out on it or see through it so you basically had to stand & look over at the pool.  But it was FREE so all is good.

We swam laps in the pool, relaxed in the hot tub then headed for supper.

There wasn't many options for supper.  We finally settled for Mommas Italian/Mexican restaurant.  It was cheap & better than we expected.
