NE/Canada Cruise - Bar Harbour Maine

The final port of our cruise was absolutely breathtaking.  We are actually considering driving back up here one day.  Bar Harbor was like walking onto a TV movie of the typical New England town.  We were blessed with glorious weather.  Because it was unseasonably warm for our cruise, we didn't see much of the fall colors on our previous ports, until we arrived here.

We purchased the popular Olly's Trolly tour which brought to the Acadian National Park and Cadillac Mountain.  The views from up there were magnificent!

After the tour we stopped for delicious Maine Lobster and Clam Chowder at the West Street Cafe, OMG it was sooo delish!

We spent the rest of our time walking around downtown.  Another tasty treat we found was the New England chocolate covered blueberries.

NE/Canada Cruise- St. John, New Brunswick

St. John's is the oldest North American city. Discovered by the English explorer, John Cabot in 1497, it is now the capital of Newfoundland. He named the area after St. John the Baptist, since it was discovered on his feast day. The main industry was cod fishing, which has been replaced by the discovery of oil now a days. Drinking rum, eating fried cod tongues?, and attending high tea are the Newfie's favorite pastimes.
We didn't do any tours of St. John, instead we walked or perhaps hiked would be a better word, to see the reversing falls.  I was glad we didn't pay for a tour to go because apparently our ship docked at the wrong time of the day.  The falls didn't reverse until high tide which would not occur until after our ship had sailed.  It was still an unusual place to see and it was a beautiful day for a walk.

Afterwards we returned to our ship for lunch and then took a tour of the downtown area which was very nice.

NE/Canada Cruise-Corner Brook Newfoundland

Today we visited Corner Brook, Newfoundland.  What a beautiful port!  We hiked along the Stream Trails. Beginning at the scenic Corner Brook stream, wind your way through the dramatic country trail. It was a wonderful scenic hike.

Corner brook is the second largest city of Newfoundland, having a population of 21,000 people. Surrounded by the Long Range Mountains, an extension of the Appalachians, the city offers scenic fjords, a rugged coastline, and thousands of acres of black spruce forests. And because of these forests, a pulp and paper mill was founded here in the 1920's. Along with the successful fishing industry, the mill provided jobs for most everyone. The mill is still in operation today, although many locals left for St. Johns with the discovery of oil in the last decade.

NE/Canada Cruise - Quebec City

When we walked off the ship in Quebec City, I felt like I had just arrived in Europe.  The outdoor cafe's, the cobblestone streets lined with shops.  It was great.  I really enjoyed seeing all the streets with familiar New Orleans names.
